In the large, adjoining lecture hall, the focus was not only on speech intelligibility but also on a discreet, build integration of the loudspeakers. 10 M-F3A PROs and 2 M-F3A FS Flysubs were installed to the left and right of the stage and are almost invisible. In the centre, right above the stage, 3 more M-F3A PROs were set up. For the front fill of the lecture hall, 5 M-F3A PROs were used, supported by 2 S12 PRO Subwoofers to the left and right. On stage, 3 M-F3A PROs stacked on top of one S12 PRO subwoofer were used as stage monitors on either side.
Each individual M-F3A PRO combines 8 highly efficient 2.8″ neodymium midrange drivers with 7 1″ dome tweeters on an area of just one A4 page. Each unit. Each unit achieves up to 129 dB peak SPL and weighs only 8 kg, including the amplifier and the DSP. The exceptionally compact dimensions and low weight of the individual elements are an obvious advantage when building complex solutions. But besides handling, these factors are also a decisive criteria when it comes to safety and statics. In the sound system concept of the Weifang Medical University, the heaviest suspension rig (to the left and right of the stage) consisting of 10 M-F3A PRO and 4 M-F3A FS flysubs weighs only 175 kg. At the same time, the active system saves money – no additional power amp channels are needed and symmetrical signal cables are quite sufficient. This is a significant cost saving when it comes to such large projects! Both the Weifang Medical School and SE Audiotechnik are very satisfied with the high speech intelligibility and the excellent sound quality of our system.
The renowned Weifang Medical University is located in the eponymous “City of the Dragon” in the Chinese province of Shandong.
SE Audiotechnik was entrusted with providing a sound system for the very generously proportioned sports hall with stage and the adjoining lecture hall. This hall regularly hosts sporting events, conferences, concerts and performances in front of large audiences.
In order to minimise reflections and to evenly reproduce a homogeneous sound over the audience and to optimise the sound quality, the entire sound system was simulated in advance using the EASE software.
For the sports hall and the lecture hall, the focus was on speech intelligibility specifically and an active system was requested. Equally high demands were made on safety, flexibility and ease of handling. Based on the requirements profile, the extremely small, light and powerful speakers from SE Audiotechnik’s M-Line were chosen, as they are tailor-made for precisely this application. The active line-array system delivers high sound pressure levels and crystal clear sound reproduction even over long distances and was therefore chosen as the best solution for the hall, stage and lecture hall.
Under the roof of the main hall, three array systems are suspended at a height of about 14 metres (bumper frame) perpendicular to each other. With 6 M-F3A PRO loudspeakers and 2 M-F3A FS Flysubs per array, the sound is both homogeneous and powerful.
The stage is a central element of the main hall and was therefore taken into account in the sound system. To the left and right of the stage, 10 ultra-compact, active M-F3A PRO full-range loudspeakers and 4 M-F3A FS Flysubs were respectively suspended. 6 more M-F3A-PRO were placed centrally suspended above the stage. Thanks to their compact dimensions, no less than 8 S15 PRO subwoofers could be hidden directly under the edge of the stage. In front of the stage, 6 M-F3A PROs perform as centre-fill, and on each side, 3 M-F3A PROs are stacked on top of one S12 PRO subwoofer as stage monitors.
